A number of sexual difficulties have a psychological component to them which counselling and psychotherapy may be able to help with. It can be difficult or embarrasing to talk about sexual difficulties which is why counselling is able to provide an environment that is safe to be able to look at what may be occuring and if appropriate it can look at any underlying reasons for the difficulties.

Some of the difficulties include:

  • Fear of sex

  • sex addiction

  • Impotence (erectile dysfunction)

  • Sexual identify

  • Sexual trauma

  • Love addiction

  • Internet addiction

  • Premature ejaculation

Counselling can play an important part in helping to overcome a wide range of sexual difficulties. For me as a counsellor and psychotherapist I feel that one of the most important aspects of counselling is that the counselling room is a safe place to be able to explore and look at the situation that you are facing without fear of embarrassment.
